01

Lessons

How long is a driving lesson?

Standard lessons are 1 hour. Trial lessons are 1.5 hours (so you get properly settled in). We can also do 2-hour lessons – useful for progress once you’re past the basics or for test-prep in the last two weeks.

Do you teach manual, automatic, or both?

Both. Manual and automatic learners are welcome – just say which when you get in touch and I’ll match the right car for your lessons.

I’m really nervous. Is that OK?

Absolutely – it’s the most common thing I hear. Every lesson is paced to how you’re feeling that day. We start on quiet residential roads and build up only when you’re ready. No shouting, no sighing, no rush.

Can I have lessons weekly, or more/less often?

Whatever works. Most learners do 1-2 lessons a week. Intensive learners go for 3-5. If you’ve got a test date booked, I’d generally recommend 2-3 per week in the fortnight before.

02

Pricing & booking

How much are lessons?

Standard rate is £50/hour. A 10-hour block is £450 (saves you £50). Trial lessons are £60 for 1.5 hours – a discounted intro rate to see how you get on. Motorway lessons are £60/hour.

How do I pay?

Bank transfer before your lesson, or cash on the day. Blocks (10 hours) are paid upfront. I’ll send you the account details when we’ve booked your first lesson.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Give me 48 hours’ notice and there’s no charge – reschedule any time. Less than 48 hours and the lesson is chargeable, unless it’s a genuine emergency (illness, family emergency, weather warning etc.).

Can I book online?

The first booking’s always over WhatsApp, phone or email so I can understand what you need. After that, we usually book the next lesson at the end of the current one, or by WhatsApp.

Areas & cars

Which areas do you cover?

West London – primarily Hounslow, Isleworth, Osterley, Feltham, Hanworth, Bedfont, Ashford, Chiswick, Ealing, Twickenham, Whitton, Heston and Brentford. If you’re just outside these areas, get in touch anyway – if I can make it work I will.

Do you pick me up from home?

Yes – within the areas I cover, I collect you from home (or work, or wherever suits) and drop you back at the end of the lesson.

What car will I be learning in?

Modern, well-maintained dual-control cars – the same ones used at the test centres. Dual controls mean I can safely take over if anything goes wrong, which is a huge reassurance for nervous learners.

04

Test & prep

How many lessons will I need before my test?

The DVSA average is around 45 hours of professional lessons plus 20 hours of private practice. Some pass in fewer, others need more. I’ll give you an honest estimate after a few lessons based on where you are.

I’ve already had lessons elsewhere. Can you take over?

Yes – happens a lot. Book a trial lesson so I can see where you’re at, then we build a plan around the gaps. Bring your DL196 (progress record) if you have one.

Do you offer intensive courses?

Yes, subject to diary space. Intensive is generally 3-5 hours a day over 5-10 days, usually for learners who’ve already got a decent base or need a fast test-prep push. Get in touch and we’ll build something around your timeline.

Can you help with the theory test?

Practical lessons are my main focus, but I’ll point you at the right apps and resources for the theory test and Highway Code, and we cover a lot of it naturally as we drive.

Can you take me to my test in your car?

Yes – and most of my learners do their test in the car they’ve been learning in. It’s usually included in your test day package if you’re doing regular lessons with me.
